Clipping campaign FAQ
Short answers first. Each one links to the guide that covers it in full.
What is a clipping campaign?
A clipping campaign pays independent editors, called clippers, to cut short clips from your long-form content and post them on their own TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts accounts. You set a rate per 1,000 views and a budget up front, and each clip is paid for its views between a minimum and a per-clip cap.
What is a clipping campaign? How much does a clipping campaign cost per 1,000 views?
The brand sets the rate. Vyro's live campaigns list $1.00 to $1.50 per 1,000 views, and NPR reported Whop bounties of $1 and $25 per 1,000. Because you also set the budget, the total cost is fixed before launch; the rate decides how many views it buys.
How much does a clipping campaign cost?Is insy a clipping agency?
No. insy is infrastructure for running clipping campaigns: it handles campaign setup, view tracking on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, budget control, verification, settlement and payouts to clippers. The source content, the brief, the creative direction and the decision to approve or reject each clip stay with you. The brand funds a budget up front that goes entirely to clipper payouts; insy's fee is 10% of each clipper payout, deducted from what the clipper receives, and unused budget is returned.
Clipping agency vs self-serve platform: who does whatHow are clip views tracked?
Each submitted clip's view count is read from the platform at intervals and recorded, so a payout can be calculated from the views the clip actually got. On insy a separate tracking system reads the views, so clippers send no numbers or screenshots; tracking starts at submission, every reading is stored with likes, comments and a suspicious-traffic score, and deleted posts are flagged. Approval gates the payout, not the measurement.
How to track views in a clipping campaignDo paid clips need #ad?
Yes. A clip posted because a brand pays for its views is an endorsement with a material connection under the FTC Endorsement Guides, so it needs a clear disclosure such as #ad or #sponsored. For video the FTC says the disclosure belongs in the video, not only in the description, and the platform's paid-content toggle should be used in addition, not instead.

Views are read from each platform's own counts for the submitted clip, and a clip should be checked before payout for signals such as sudden view spikes, engagement far below other clips, and an audience outside the target market. Buying fake views for a commercial purpose is banned by the FTC rule at 16 CFR 465.8, and marketplaces such as Whop exclude botted views from payment.
Fake views in clipping campaigns: how they happen and how they are caughtHow do clippers get paid?
Each approved clip is paid its views divided by 1,000 times the campaign rate, as long as it clears the minimum payout, and up to the per-clip cap. On insy the brand funds the budget up front and a 10% fee is deducted from each clipper payout, so the brand pays nothing on top.

An influencer deal pays one creator a fee agreed up front for a post to their audience, whether it performs or not. A clipping campaign pays many accounts only for the views their clips actually get, at a rate agreed up front. Many brands use both: influencers for endorsement, clipping for reach.
Clipping vs influencer marketing: what you pay for in eachWhat budget does a clipping campaign need?
The budget is whatever you fund, and it divided by the rate gives the most views it can buy: $10,000 at $1 per 1,000 views pays for up to 10 million views. The per-clip cap sets how many clips it takes to use it up, so budget, rate and cap should be chosen together.
How much does a clipping campaign cost?Do clipping campaigns work?
They reliably buy views at a known price, but views are distributed unevenly: in one real 23-clip TikTok campaign, the top two clips carried 42% of all views. Whether those views become sales or signups depends on the source content and what you measure.
Do clipping campaigns work? What the view data actually showsIs clipping cheaper than TikTok ads?
The prices look close but measure different things. Clipping rates are per 1,000 views counted by each platform, while ads are priced per 1,000 impressions; Gupta Media's 2025 average TikTok CPM was $4.82. A clipping view is organic, on someone else's account, and not labeled as an ad slot.
Clipping vs paid social: cost per view and what you get for itShould I hire a clipping agency or use a platform?
An agency runs the campaign and recruits its own clippers, usually for a monthly fee; the agency Clipping was reported to charge clients $2,500 to $10,000 or more a month. A self-serve platform gives you the marketplace and settlement tools and you run the brief and review yourself.
Clipping agency vs self-serve platform: who does whatWhat should a clipping campaign brief include?
The rate per 1,000 views, minimum payout, per-clip cap, tracking window, accepted platforms, required tags and disclosure, source material, banned edits or claims, and the reasons a clip will be rejected. Every field you leave out becomes a dispute later.

It depends on the provider, so ask before you fund. On insy, unused budget is returned to the brand, and the whole budget otherwise goes to clipper payouts.
How to run a clipping campaign, step by stepHow much do clippers make per 1,000 views?
Most rates we could verify fall between $0.30 and $1.50 per 1,000 views, such as Vyro's $1.00 to $1.50 and N3on's reported $40 per 100,000 views. What a clipper earns in total depends far more on how many clips clear the minimum than on the rate.
How much do clippers make? Pay per 1,000 views, caps and taxesCan I start clipping with no followers?
Yes. Campaigns pay per view on each clip, not per follower, so a new account can be paid from its first approved clip. Platform programs are different: TikTok's Creator Rewards Program requires 10,000 authentic followers in the US.
How to start clipping with no followersWhy do clips get rejected?
The usual reasons are brief violations: a missing tag, logo or disclosure, the wrong platform, another creator's watermark, a near-copy with no real edits, or signs of botted views. Reading the brief in full before editing prevents most of them.
How to start clipping with no followersDo clippers have to pay taxes on clipping income?
Yes, clipping income is taxable in the US whether or not you receive a form. For payments after December 31, 2025, Form 1099-NEC is filed at $2,000 or more, and Form 1099-K only above $20,000 and 200 transactions. This is a summary, not tax advice.
How much do clippers make? Pay per 1,000 views, caps and taxesIs it illegal to buy views for clips?
Under the FTC's Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule, in effect since October 21, 2024, buying or selling fake social media indicators such as bot views is prohibited when the buyer knew or should have known they were fake and uses them for a commercial purpose. Civil penalties reach $53,088 per violation at the 2025 level.
